H.L.M. a vendre is the French for social lodgments for sale. I was interested here in the comportment of micro societies concentrated into masses. It has often struck me how the individual are nonexistent in a mass. The mass takes on a caricature of its own design regardless of personal or intellectual persuasion. It seems to hold its own rules and regulations and each individual adapts to its impositions with timid resolve. For behind the massive movement of social activity individual hides and thus acquires the anonymity for actions without been thrown into the spotlight of public scrutiny. Doing what we want is synonym to liberty, that same liberty that is lost once the affiliation to a structure is established. The compartments in this work represent peoples lives in which each person exists in complete oblivion to the next. Life goes on behind closed doors and concern for what may or may not be next door is non existence. The above image is an expression of this process, contentment within the masses while growing isolation erodes the fabric of human responsibility. Human nature has adapted to the demands made upon it by modern society driven by its thrust to succeed an any cost. We now see the consequences of this cultural and individualistic expression within our societies. I content myself to look at things ask questions and establish my standing. The objective in this work is to project an image that can provoke similar emotions in the viewer.
