Nature morte” is a piece that I hold close to my heart. The conception of this work took a long time to come together. I like always when I begin a new work want to cram everything that I know into the piece. This has always catastrophic consequences if not treated properly. I wanted to express the putting to death of nature its self. I also wanted to show the cruel reality of this process without having direct access to images of shock. I also wanted to re-establish mans origins deeply rooted in nature so deeply rooted in fact that one cannot exist with the other. Here for example if one was to physically separate the elements of this work, resin, wire, decorative flowers no element on its own is capable of carrying a comprehensive message. Where put together on the other hand each element restrains the other in a union of expression. The wire form of Saint Sébastien (Sodoma, 1525) portraying the solemn conviction of an ideal confronted with the reality of mans incomprehension. The roses represent sincerity and their tint of flesh colour is the shadow made by mans passage in life. The destruction of an existence is the denunciation of an incapacity to accept fundamental difference not only between men but in nature its self. It is for this reason that I have transpierced the image of Saint Sébastien mortally wounding the nature inherent.
