This is another assemblage that I put together from Odhràns drawings. It seems to me when I look into him, he is content in his innocence, unaware of the complexity of life. The seven squares represent the seven stages in life( seven days in a week etc.) The idea here was to express the complexity of life in its simplest form to which I added crazy colours to pronounce the confusion and seemingly chaotic harmony in there relationships. On top of this ridged plan is the figure of a joyous caricature with open arms, in attitude acceptance accompanied with an invitation to be looked at. If we look at adult behavior we see all to often contrary attitudes developing when exposing their personal relationship with their situation in life. This work depicts the gracious contentment of a young mind in the middle of all this confusion. This reflection provokes all types of other questions like, are the impositions in life socially imposed or an natural component of each individual? or, are we thought to cope with things or are we just giving liberal expression to our innate emotions. I could go on but for fear of saying to much I would prefer to stop here and let you reflect for your self. For the real interest in art is to let the image work its way into you, and once it has found its place then the real conversation takes place.
